Juggling a million tasks, striving to ensure everything runs smoothly. Constantly worrying if everyone around us is okay. As moms, it’s a heavy burden we carry.

The relentless pressure to bear the responsibility for everyone's happiness and well-being is well…exhausting. Does being a mom and a woman mean maintaining control, fixing every problem, keeping everyone happy? No…and the sooner we release ourselves from the pressure, the easier everything gets.

What’s the one skill moms have a hard time learning but can have the most valuable pay-off? How do we not fall back into the norm of what we’re used to?

In this episode I talk about not taking on the burden of making sure everyone and everything is okay, why moms have a hard time figuring it out and how we can do less while contributing more.

There is a big distinction between being there for the people that you love and making sure everybody’s okay all the time. That is not the burden you need to bear. -Dana Malstaff

As moms, there’s a constant pressure to put our maternal identity above everything. Of course, our kids are important, but there’s a lot more to us than that.

Our worth isn’t determined solely by how much time we dedicate to our families. Neglecting our other identities and passions can lead to a profound loss and disconnection from ourselves.

How does the pressure sabotage our ability to be truly happy and connected as women? How do we recognize and embrace our multitude of identities as women without feeling guilty?

In this episode, I talk about how having a guilty mom mindset can sabotage your success. I also talk about fostering a balanced approach to identity and how to give our identities as women enough time and space.

We are so many more things than just being a parent. -Dana Malstaff

3 Things You’ll Learn in This Episode

-Figuring out who we are as women

How do we figure out exactly who we are as women? What aspects do we look at?

-Our identity as partners

Does our identity differ when we have a partner as opposed to when there is no one else included in our lives? What does that look like?

-The mindset that children are everything

How has culture set this mindset up and made it a norm? Is this the correct mindset to have?

As moms, business owners and women, our lives are constantly changing. We grow, discover new interests, and we get bored in our businesses, and we’re left wondering if it’s time to pivot.

Now, before we go uprooting everything and making huge changes, we really have to check in with ourselves first. Sometimes what feels like a new direction to shift into is nothing more than a short-term burst of excitement.

How do we tell the difference between needing to pivot and needing to just make small tweaks to what we’re doing? What questions should we ask ourselves?

In this episode, I talk about whether you should tweak or move onto something different.

If you don’t know what to say past a certain point, that’s a really good indicator that this isn’t a long-term pivot for you. -Dana Malstaff

-Why you’re itching to pivot

Every mom struggles with the pressure to be present and connected while also excelling in our businesses.

We all want to have it all, but honestly, it can leave us feeling like a rubber band being pulled way too thin. That nagging feeling creeps in – are we doing enough for our families or our careers?

How do we figure out our limits and make peace with the fact that we can't do it all? Can we switch up our mindset a bit?

In this episode, GM of Innovation at SamCart Olivia Herron joins me to talk about how to shift from a martyr mindset, why we need to be okay with not having control all the time and why it's okay to have off days. We also talk about the aspirations outside of being a mother.

Not everything requires you to be in control. -Olivia Heron

-The outcome vs. the journey

As women, we often find ourselves woven into the company of people who may not be of our choosing. The energy they bring, their perspectives, and their influence can significantly impact our well-being.

But what happens when we crave control over the energies we absorb, and want a circle of individuals who truly align with our essence and aspirations?

As strong and capable women, the question remains: how do we take charge of the energies we invite into our lives? How do we say no to things that don't serve us?

In this episode personal coach for professional mothers and keynote speaker Allison Hare joins me to talk about finding people who we are comfortable with, why we should surround ourselves with people who give us energy as well as how to find people who align with our values.

We want to live in a world where every woman feels whole. -Dana Malstaff

When we find our tribe, we get comfortable and don’t have to hide who we are. How does this help us protect the energy around ourselves?

What does it look like to lay the armor down as a strong woman and find someone we can open up to and trust?
