The typical marketing rule is to churn out a lot of stuff, but I believe putting out too much content can actually diminish our effectiveness. We need to define down our content, especially at a time like this. What type of content should we be posting right now? What is an easy social media content formula that can allow us to have impact, connect and sell our products? In this episode, we discuss a more beneficial content schedule and content sequence that we can follow, and how it will boost our businesses.

Don’t make so much so much content, don’t just keep teaching, we want to create authority and leadership, and it’s not done by just putting stuff out there, it’s about refining what you’re putting out there. -Dana Malstaff

Takeaways

  • We need to make less content and repeat what we’re saying more often.

  • Make content that is relevant to pulling people in with what’s happening in the world.

  • Now is the best time to build authority, community and connection, not put out as much content as possible.

What are the actions we can take to solidify client relationships? On this episode, I share how we can become irreplaceable in the eyes of our clients.

Social media advertising is vital for online businesses, so all entrepreneurs should be looking into it. Is there a right time to start advertising? What happens if we don’t have a big online following yet? Do we need to be hesitant to use retargeted advertising? On this episode, host of The Art of Online Business podcast, Rick Mulready, shares how to advertise effectively on social media.

It’s never too early to start using ads. Start running them as soon as you have an audience. -Rick Mulready

3 Things We Learned From This Episode

  • Start using ads as soon as possible (20:07- 21:58)
As soon as we have a social media presence and an audience, we should be leveraging ads. There’s no time like the present to start using ads if we have an audience.

  • Build an audience (22:41- 24:01)
Those of us new to a platform may not have established audiences yet. The best way to build these audiences is by doing Facebook Lives, which we can later use as advertisements to build our following.

  • Rethink advertising (20:07- 21:58)
A lot of people are hesitant to use retargeted advertising, because there’s a common belief that this is an invasion of privacy. We have to shift our mindsets away from that - advertising isn’t going anywhere, so we may as well provide useful information to the right people.

Opt-ins are a vital part of us building relationships with more people and growing our businesses. Why are they so effective? How do we make sure our opt-ins are aligned with what we sell? On this episode, you’ll learn about what it takes to create effective, highly converting opt-ins.

Getting people on your email list and nurturing them creates a much longer relationship. -Dana Malstaff

3 Things We Learned From This Episode

  • Recognize that your opt-in isn’t part of your identity and if it doesn’t work, it’s not because of you, it’s just that you didn’t position it correctly. Approach opt-ins as a place for testing.
  • You don’t need to learn something to teach your opt-in, it has to be something you’re already familiar with.
  • On the thank you page, ask them to do something discussing next steps.
