Facebook ads can be an effective tool to promote our businesses. How can we get started with the process? Once we’ve decided we want to create an online campaign, how much should we be paying for it, and how do we decide who gets to see the advertisements?

On this episode, Facebook and Instagram ads strategist, Monica Louie, shares her steps to creating a successful online campaign.

 

3 Things We Learned From This Episode

Place the pixel on your website (14:08 - 15:16)

Even if we’re not ready to start running Facebook ads yet, installing the Facebook pixel on the backend of our websites is a great first step. The pixel allows Facebook to gather data on the people who visit our websites, so that when we are ready to start a campaign, we already have a great idea of our demographics. 


Determine a realistic but effective budget

Once we’ve decided to advertise on Facebook and have a strategy in mind, we need to determine the budget. This should be based on what we’re comfortable spending, as well as what we’re advertising. For example, our daily advertising costs would probably be different from a promotion of our new launches. 


Elect the best audience based on who we already do business with

Depending on what we’re promoting, we may want to target people who aren’t already on our mailing lists. Facebook allows us to request ‘lookalike lists’. These are people who have similar interests to our existing client database, and are likely to enjoy what we’re selling.

 

We shouldn’t be relying on advertisements alone to boost our brands, but they’re a great place to start. Facebook ads offer amazing tools, and even if we’re not ready to commit to a campaign now, we can rely on technology like the Facebook pixel to gather information about our target audience until it’s time. There is also a great deal of flexibility in terms of budgeting, which allows us to tailor campaigns to our exact needs. Facebook offers us the tools to take our businesses to the next level; why not take advantage?
